Re: Gen4 Dash Rattle - Statement from Mitsu SA
Kurt is in lonehill and I have shown him how to install the solution for the rattling dashboards.I have found that the cable tie fix I use definately helps with rattles but does not stop the dash shake that many cars suffer.
The solutioon for the shake is the brackets i initially designed to fit around the radio unit and make the centre of the dash more rigid.
I have had my dash open a few times now looking for that 100% solution to having a completely non moving dash, but it seems there is always gonna be some movement.
yesterday i spent some time again in the dash and its very clear that the material used to construct the dash is the reason for the movement. The plastic used, although very robust is way more flexible than that found in other vehiles and even other mitsus.
If i remove the cabby hole and left vent there is alot and i mean a lot of movement on the material.
The shake we see on bad roads is not really a shake but a flexing of the materials of the dash.
Its definately not a bad thing as many know that the prado suffered from dash cracks and this was maybe due to a harder plastic.
So the pajero dash can be quietened down,a lot,but it will never be 100% movement free. And even if I can come up with a plan to really prevent movement i will be worried as to what bad causs it might have in the future.
As for rattles, they can be sorted easily as there are a few key points where they mostly develop and its only due to use of the vehicle that they get a bit worse over time.

You are welcome to contact me anytime to chat and discuss your issues and between me and Kurt im sure we can sort it out

Contact made, will do the cable tie fix and then see how it helps with Callie's rattles. I have a set of brackets of yours John, will see if he needs them too when I open the dash.

The rattle is unbearable on the corrugated roads here in Nam! Do you perhaps have a step by step picture guide of the cable tie fix?

Another 2 Pajero's dashboards repaired today, I hope it made a huge difference. Also did cubby holes and back doors while I was busy. Let's wait and see what their feedback is.

Re: Gen4 Dash Rattle - Statement from Mitsu SA
Like I reported on the 4x4site, my dash is really fixed. Mitsu did the brackets and John the cable ties. I am writing from Damaraland and starting the return trip tomorrow and am honestly not worried about the corrugated roads between here and home.
