2003 Auto Transmission problem
I live in Lesotho and have a 2003 LWB Auto with 160,000 kms. A friend was driving from Thaba Tseka to Maseru last week while I was ahead on my motorcycle. From what he says he was cresting over a ridge approaching Mohale Dam and the transmission made a large clunk. He pulled over and they observed the Propshaft being jerky as he slowly drove forward. They coasted a few Kms down the mountain and it ended up at Mohale Lodge. When I arrived the car would start fine, but it will not do anything when shifting between forward, reverse and neutral. You are able to apply gas and nothing happens.
I was able to get a rollback to get it to Maseru where it now sits.
I am not sure where to even begin getting it looked at. I am about 150 KMS from Bloemfontein. Any suggestions?
Re: 2003 Auto Transmission problem
Have you checked the cv joints on the prop shaft. I had to replace mine recently on my 2003 pajero lwb. I had different experience to your but worth looking at. Mine would make the car have a vibration at only certain speeds and then it started to get the cluck cluck noise but only at very low speeds. I replaced the cvs and even my centre diff orange light has stopped flashing since then. I am not sure if the orange light had anything to do with the cv as I did change tyres back to factory standard around the same time too.
Hope you get it sorted ASAP and please tell us what went wrong
