Buyin a used Pajero - extension to maintenance plans
Im about to take delivery of a 2006 3.2 DiD SWB GLS, i have the balance of the maintence plan til 5 years / 100 000km.

Mitsubishi have quoted some rather expensive prices for either maintenance, service plan or just a warranty.

Does anyone have any experience in this regard and are there alternative plans elsewhere etc?

Cheers

Gerard

I went through the excercise when I bought the Touareg, and my choice fell on Hollard Insurance's Xtender policy

Thanks a stack, this is exactly what Im looking for. :)

Just reading their fine print, a question I will pose to them is do they cover the repairs at the actual dealer, ie Mitsubishi, or only at one of their panel backyard mechanics? :?:

Re: Buyin a used Pajero - extension to maintenance plans
I have bought in Oct. 2008 a Pajero SWB w/o maintenance plan but FSH from 2004. It was a private sale and I did a test drive - the machine sounded good, I could not find any oil "dust" nor any other strange indications. I just continued the FSH whenever required according the service manual + 2 extra oil and oilfilter changes after each desert trip - but not with Mitsu, I have choosen a "backyard" mechanics of my trust in Spartan  ...and it works out perfect.

I drive the car now since more than 40.000 km, nothing to repair - everything is OK. The Pajero is with me as the 3rd owner and I can only recommend the vehicle when I sell it in JAS 2010 - even when it goes to the 4th owner then...yes, it has some scratches and dents across the last 6 years - but: it's up to now 100% reliable.

My personal conclusion: my wife and me only drive 2nd hand vehicles at the age of 2-3 years as in Germany the cars loose around 40-50% of it's value in the first 3 years - so you can do nice deals with the fanatics who always need to have the latest, greatest version - trust me
