Hi Guys I have a 2008 GLX Long wheel base, the only problem I have with this vehicle is the very hard ride for which these vehicles are notorious. I am thinking of fitting Bilstein B6 offroad shocks with the original springs. has anyone had any experience with Bilsteins.
I have braced the dash as per John Gs original post on this subject which has helped with the rattles. I have munroe shocks in at the moment which are slightly better than the OE shocks but still have to shout at my wife when on a gravel road. What advice can you offer (other than an intercom)

My GLS was a hard ride righr from the start which got worse with age. I was told that Bilsteins will take care of that. Although a lot better the car is still not too hot on corrugations. The last 75km to Mana Pools is about the worst you can do to a shock. On returning to the Harare tar road it was obvious that the shocks have had it. One was leaking very smelly stuff and from the way the car handled, one could tell that the other three were not what they were 150km earlier. The Gabriels on the off road caravan were in much worse shape, one in two bits hanging from the mountings. Which brings me to the best part regarding the Bilsteins. Though nothing could be done about the leaking one, Mikem reconditioned the other three and I had no problems since (about 50000 km). I only have the originals to compare it to but will go for Bilstein again if I have to replace shocks. Hope this helped.

I replaced my coils and shocks with EFS, had Monroe's on for a short while and ended up selling them because the ride was too harsh. The Bilsteins are a very good option but don't underestimate a full set of EFS, Tough Dog or OME. Stay away from Iron Man, they are good but don't suit the Pajero according to a few reports I have heard about. Good luck sorting the problem out.
