Hi everyone,
My Paj (07 Gen 4 DiDc) have now twice done something strange.
When shifting to D, it does not engage and I have to take it back to P and again to D. Oil & filter was changed almost 30000km ago on 200000km.
Any idea what the problem could be?
i had a similar issue, i call it being lazy to select drive or reverse. only seems to be an issue in the mornings. did the same, new genuine ATF (it is important to use genuine) and new filter in box but only slightly improved it. i put some additive in it about a month ago, had something about rejuvenates the seals on the bottle, cannot remember the name but available at any good parts shop. it took a while but seems a lot better now. mine has 248000 km on her now and i use it for remote travel into the western australian goldfields towing a caravan so due to this i have it booked in for a valve body upgrade, HD torque converter with lock up solenoids and full reconditioning of whatever needs doing, not cheap but breaking down in the middle of nowhere isnt an option either. hope this helps.
Had ATF and filter replaced on 200000km with genuine Mits filter & oil.
Been 2 weeks now without any hicckup's

Hi,
Someone mentioned this problem on the 4x4community.
If it happens again, check the dash lights - it might have "D" and "N" both lit up.
There is an electric switch under the gear lever, that switches according to the position, and sometimes it is dirty or misaligned, so it dose not register D properly, and it is actually in neutral.

I experienced similar hick up once or twice in the morning. I'd fire up the old V6 and pull out the garage, stick it in neutral, and exit car to close garage. That was when once or twice it wouldn't actually engage reverse, after getting in again.
I just accepted it as a little quirk and then got into the habit of leaving it in R while closing the garage.

Paj did it again with me today, I then noticed that both N and D lights up. So I suspect the switch underneath is either dirty on busy packing up.

Mine did this 2 weeks ago. Could only get reverse. My mechanic towed car in and next morning got back. He pulled out chips peanuts and dust and lots of dirt. Said he also set it to be less sensitive.Allegro wrote:Paj did it again with me today, I then noticed that both N and D lights up. All fine again
Haven't had this problem but ironically did a complete spring clean of mine over the weekend which included opening the console under the gear lever. Was shocked at the amount of dirt and grime that collects there. Think the previous owner had quite a love for garage pies. So the above mentioned fix makes senesce.
