Firstly - Welcome to the club!
Maybe useless info, but remember to put the gearbox in neutral when selecting Low Range and also when going back to High Range, otherwise it will stay where it is!

Thanks John,LOL,yes i did do that, after reading abit up on how it works, howeverin low range it's clear when you you should be in,i have had many 4x4's,all manual, this is my first auto, and im sure it's not in,just a question, should i use the tiptronic box to select gears, could this maybe the problem in LRange?

Nope, you can leave in it auto. Do the lights stop blinking once you have selected LR (The 4x green "wheels" on the dash)?

Remember the Pajero doesn't have a very low LR. The higher ratio and the torque converter could be fooling you. If the lights are solid, then I'll guess it is in.
Thanks guys, yes the ights do stop blinking and then they go solid.maybe it's in, i guess i will have to try it somewhere to see if it is in low range.the RD lock button, how does this work on the pajero do i have to hold it in when in low range and how do i know it's on?
