Feed-back as promised: the diagnostic was run on Wednesday as planned. Nothing found on the engine but they picked up that the gears were changing way too late. Replaced the gearbox oil (which I honestly think has only been done once during a 'big' service at 90 000 km. Now at 206 000 km so high time!) and although I don't think that there is an improvement in fuel consumption - too early to tell - it definitely feels smoother. My bad for not remembering about the gearbox oil sooner

Interesting point: I was advised to drive the car through all 5 gears in manual occasionally. I was recently advised the same about the 4x4 parts. Apparently the parts get 'sticky' from not being used and then when you try to engage them they can't. Boils down to 'use it or lose it' I suppose.

Well, if I don't get out and get some exercise, I also get stiff and creaky

Mitsubishi Hatfield were very professional throughout. Kept me up to date all the time, checked back before undertaking work, etc. I have much more confidence in referring to them if I should need to. Cost me a bit though, +/- R1750 (R450 for gearbox oil).

The standard service procedures state that the gearbox oil must be changed every 60,000km

So I phoned Mits Centurion to book my vehicle in for the recall on the indicator switch. After about the fourth attempt of being put through to "Nobody", being cut off, etc., the switch board said they would get someone to call back - I must say, till now I was not impressed - - and they actually did call back!.

They were expecting me when I arrived on Friday morning, had a cup of coffee, offered to wash the vehicle. All in all it took about an hour and everything went well.
