Hi all,
I've been reading these forums for a while but never needed to post until now.
We own a 2004 3rd generation Pajero with the 3.5 GDI and auto transmission. In general it runs and drives beautifully, with one exception: under any load (mild acceleration or maintaining speed up a hill), the entire vehicle shudders like it's going over rough pavement or corrugations.
This does not happen under heavy acceleration because the auto box moves it right past the 1400rpm mark. Neither does it happen while cruising at any other engine speed. If I use the manual gear selector to increase the engine speed (i.e. Downshift one gear from whatever the auto has selected) the shuddering disappears, but at the expense of fuel economy.
I've had 2 different mechanics look at it, and neither can give me an explanation, so I'm seeking your collective wisdom. Also posting this in the engine forum.
Thanks!
