This is a late reply, but as far as my project went, the following feedback.
I have installed the new clutch kit (almost) successfully in December 2011 before going on holiday. There was a very unwelcome noise after the installation, as if the clutch is not completely releasing and still touching the flywheel. Then came the shocker. 4 Months later (April 2012) the DMF disintegrated. I opted to go with a new DMF and again replaced the clutch kit.
Total cost for spares first time was +-R4000, and second time round +-R15200. Now it runs like a dream, very smooth and no knocking sound when starting, or when shifting, or when decellerating with subsequent accelleration.
Thanks for all your input.
Happy Pajeroing.

Replaced all with Mitsubishi Dealer parts, at a cost of approx R18500. Decided to rather go the Original parts way.
Flywheel, clutch kit,+- R15000 and I paid a friend om mine to do the work +-R3000.

Do you perhaps have the corrects part numbers for the clutch and pressure plate nearby? I am currently out on tour and as luck would have it lost the clutch on mine. Got new clutch and pressure plate from Mitsu and a kind Samaritan is bringing it through to me tomorrow. Just now worrying that it turns out to be the wrong parts
then I am in deep poo. The dmf still seem fine but I will get this ordered anyway and replaced back home. Just need to get mobile again right now!
The part numbers that I got and which are on their way to me are as per the invoice faxed to me LMR553643 and LMR446365.
I also have a 2001 Pajero 3.2 Did
Much apreciated.

Also on this topic. Does anybody know the number identifier of the gearbox fitted to these vehicles? Where can I check this? Would be interesting to know if the Triton and now manual 3.2 Pajero Sport in SA have the same gearbox and thus clutch parts for future reference.

Wow Cats,
Not nice getting stuck out on tour. Hope you get things sorted - which part of the country are you?

I am in Vanrhynsdorp at a Mitsu agent and managed to get clutch, pressure plate and the dreaded Dual Mass Flywheel fitted as ALL parts were available ex JHB Imperial. Looks like we are roadworthy again!!
Thanks for the well wishing and a festive and blessed season to you all!
