Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
I Just clocked 2000 Km in 3 days on my Paj. I am based in Gaborone Botswana. Last week Friday there was a need for me to make an emergency trip to Livingstone in Zambia. I did the usual pre-journey checks. (Oil, coolant, tire pressure, etc) and I hit the road. Started off from Gaborone friday night. was in livingstone by saturday Midday, spent saturday night. there and started of from Livingstone yesterday (sunday) and i am now back in Gaborone Botswana.
2000KM + and pushing . All i had to do for my Paj was to make sure she is fueled.
She is just marvelous.
If it has moving parts, You can always figure out how it works. Not applicable for solid state hard drives. :)

Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
Hi Guys

I have a 2002 GLS LWB with about 340 000km. I fitted a auto dimmer rear view mirror and redid the upper and lower control arm bushes on the front suspension. I am able to make the bushes out of polyurethane and played around with different shore hardness. I settled for a 90A hardness, but, I think I should have used an 80A hardness. I also redid the anti sway/roll bar bushes, front and rear and the polyurethane seems to be better than the original rubber. These bushes should definitely be a 90A hardness.
I have just done over 2000km in various National parks over severe corrugation, and I am very happy with the results.

I still want to do the trailing arm bushes. I will also be casting the shock bushes out of polyurethane. See the picture below for the bushes before I installed them.

I had the 160000km service done. Not a biggy but keeping the book all up to date and treating the tin to some new oil and filters.

Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
Went to Mitsitech in Alberton to remove cat and blank off EGR. (they also installed some stuff for me at about 1/4 the cost of what the dealers wanted to charge... e.g. steering rack boots)

So a few observations:
> What a pleasent experience at Mitsitech. Given I've been looking for a trusty mechanic after a few less than inspiring experiences with our man in Centurion... I found Arnold at Mitsitech a breath of fresh air! Would be keen to hear other's experience of him, as I'm considering using him going forward for any of major work.

> Arnold also did a Dyno run before and after removing the cat (result below). He said the cat was severely clogged when he opened it up. When I saw the picture I thought... yeah right... but I must say, the difference, especially under 2500 rpm is MASSIVE... Basically almost double power at 1500 rpm. revving is now much more free (revs build faster).

> Overall about 12% increase at peak power - very much noticable!

Will be keen to see what impact it has on fuel (if any), and I will be monitoring my EGTs now with interest to see if they come down.

On the one hand I am very miffed because I've babied my paj over the last 120k kms... Just hope that I've been driving it slowly enough for the increased back-pressure and resultant increased heat not to have had significant impacts.
