Cruise control
The cruise control in my 2004 3.2 DID stopped working a while ago (no light on dash as well), so based on research I assumed that the clock spring was faulty. I have now replaced the clock spring and although the indicator light on the dash now comes on when I activate the cruise lever, the actual control is still not operating.
Before I go to the dealers for a diagnosis, please can anyone perhaps advise me if there is also some other resetting option which I should follow up on to reactivate the system.
My cruise control worked perfectly before the switch became faulty, so I am at a loss why it has not been rectified with the replacement switch now operational.
I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
Malcolm
Re: Cruise control
In follow up, I took the vehicle onto the open road this morning and tried it again - all seems OK now. Although I am not sure what I did right this time, I am most relieved that it is working properly and the effort and cost was not in vain.

Sometimes electronic functions need to re-learn.

Yes it is applying the brakes to curb the speed. The cruise control on the gen4 is not as smooth as it was on the old gen3 in this regard I feel.

Remember cruise control only work above 80km/h I think.

I used my CC yesterday in a 60 zone and set it at 65, it worked but it ran down the hills and sped up easily.

Re: Cruise control
Minimum speed is 40km/h (approx).
It doesn't employ the brakes, only compression.
On a down-hill, where set speed is close to the free-wheel speed, the cc will hunt. Basically the throttle response is too big. The cc gives too much throttle, the car immediately over-speeds and the throttle has to back off again. Hence the feeling of surging.

Ok. Then it only works above 60km/h or 40km/h ImageImage??? My 80 was wrong. I know there is a cut off speed as I once tried experimenting with it on Kruger Park stretch to try and use it as a crawl control feature keeping a slow but steady speed, but it would not engage as the speed was too low.
