Simon, a WhatsApp group can ever replace a forum IMHO. The main reason is that it normally deteriorates into a "kak praat" group where off topic matters start getting discussed. I'm seriously considering leaving as I am on many groups and this platform is much better for technical chats, the WhatsApp group starts becoming a nuisance.

Whatspp does not delete photos from my Iphone when I use the app.
Thus it clutters up a phone even if you don't look at the pictures.
I don't even subscribe to the local neighborhood watch because of this. You can receive a 180 messages in the blink of an eye.
It creates a lot of noise.
At least on Tapatalk you can do selective reading and choose on which posts you subscribe.

I eventually left the group, it ended up being a social chat group which I don't have time for. Think carefully if you really want to join because this Forum is much more informative IMHO.
