I would like to comment on the post referring to a trailer which was lost while towing.
With all due respect I do not agree with home baked designs, i.e axle to weak, tow bar to weak putting gigantic wheels on a comparatively small trailer etc etc etc. etc.
And then towing at speeds of 120km/h Plus ???!!
Wake up and become more responsible with regard to home- built vehicles and enjoy your engineering skills with less dangerous things.
Sorry to be so direct but what I see on the roads in this country sometimes makes me shiver....

Sorry I forgot to offer my opinion, for what it is worth:
In my book Motor Vehicles (and a trailer is one) must only be allowed to be manufactured or assembled by suitably qualified and registered businesses.
If a private person wishes to design/built his/her own trailer...by all means go ahead but then the vehicle must be homologated fully as any other vehicle before being allowed to be registered and licensed,
