I am a happy new member of the Pajero club with a 2005 3.2l DiD GLX LWB having had to retire my old V6 3L Nissan Sani, so i am new to the 'modern' way of 4x4. Some questions.
1) What are the speed limits for a) changing to 4H, 4Hcl and 4Lcl? and b) driving in the same?
2) I understand that there may be issues with selecting 4H. My experience at present is that the front wheel lock indicators either take a long time to stop flashing or do not stop flashing. I have been told to exercise the selection regularly but it still seems inconsistent. I have also found that they revert to flashing (at the same rate) at times after engagement. As it stands I don't know if I am in 4H or not at any point in time.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It sounds like your super select system needs to be repaired, that behavior is not normal.

As for the selections:

2H -> 4H can be selected at speeds up to 100km/h. Then you can travel at any speed in 4H

4H -> 4HLc can only be selected when you’re stationary and in Neutral.

4HLc - 4LLc same as above.

Thank you Kurt for your advice. Can't help but notice you are the main man when it comes to dashboard rattles. All the forum comments relate to Gen 4. My Gen 3 dash rattles off road. Is it the same problem/ fix? (I am in East London)

Hi Alan, unfortunately not because the dash design is completely different. If you want to check behind some panels get yourself a trim removal set from a place like Adendorff’s and open a few panels, maybe there are some loose bolts and screws.

I have checked inside one Gen3 dash before and there was a metal sounding rattle right behind the radio, there is a thin steel plate type thing there that just needed some foam strip to prevent the rattle, was a quick fix.

All correct, except that 4H -> 4HLc can be engaged/disengaged while driving. I did it many times while in soft sand. You just have to raise your foot from the gas for a sec.

I have a 2001 Gen 3 LWB with 468 000km on it. Just did 5000km between Underberg and Windhoek this Dec. Welcome!

I had the flashing of the front 2 wheels, it was definitely engaging but the feedback from the mechanics wasn't getting back to the dash. I had all the sensors replaced, works like a dream!

For me the off-road rattles are part of the game, even my dads gen 4 has them, they go away the heavier you load it

Sometimes my lights also flash for a long time after switching between 2wd and 4wd. You just need to take your foot off of the accelerator for a second or two (after switching over). That does the trick for me.

Thanks to all who offered advice on my Super Select problem. It turned out to be 2 faulty switches and a faulty actuator.
