gen 4 gearbox skid plate
Good afternoon friends,

So this past weekend the Mrs and I visited kruger, and got caught in the latest rains and floods. Was fantastic, except for when we were swiftly retreating from a muddy close encounter with a pachyderm . We must have hooked a log or rock at pace, and ripped some of the bolt holes in the standard Gen 4 Gearbox Bash Plate (aft of the 1st cross member). Then, the atrocious lydenberg potholes finished the job, obliterating the plate into a crumbled detached mess.

does anyone have a spare / second hand one lying around they would consider letting me buy?

many thanks.

Gareth
Re: gen 4 gearbox skid plate
Sorry I can't help you there.
But I have been looking into getting one made, using the original as a pattern. Apart from a couple of bends either end and drilling new mounting holes and drilling larger holes to reduce weight. it doesn't look too hard to get one fabricated.
Material depends on your choice, ally or mild steel, 3 mm thickness should do it, it has to be better than the cardboard effort that Mitsubishi fit as standard. I'll investigate and let you know how it goes.

Rond 2350.00 for two pieces.

No doubt ex vat. It looks resonable value compared to some of the suppliers.
Re: gen 4 gearbox skid plate
Check out Stofpad4x4 for some new plates, he does both the front one and the gearbox one separately. Frontrunner also has one, might be cheaper.

Doesn't look like they do for the Gen 4....
Thank you, I'll still contact them. Maybe it fits

Re: gen 4 gearbox skid plate
Don't write them off yet. I don't think there is any differnece betwwen Gen 3 and Gen 4 regarding the chassis. Maybe some other learned perosn who visits this page can help find out if there are any differences with regards to the above. Body wise and interior yes, but to change the chassis and all the engineering that goes with it, that is a major expense for any manufacturer to go that route. Besides, don't ask, you don't get. You might find out it fits. Bonus.
