Hi Everyone,
I am new here and was wondering if any of you technical boffins may be able to help.
I picked up an issue with my 2005 3.2DiD GLS Auto LWB last week. I was doing a trip to the Lowveld from Pretoria. The trip was spread over two days, about 400 km per day. The Pajero's engine stalled on two occasions whilst slowing down to an intersection. It happened once on day one and once on day two. The car's engine would stall with all ignition lights showing up, and I would then bring the vehicle to a stop and try to restart the engine. It would start briefly, and then stall again a few times. I switched the ignition off completely, took out the keys, reinserted it into the ignition and tried to start it again. This worked, and so I could carry on with the trip without any further stalls.
I am obviously worried that it is a bigger issue that needs addressing, but where do I start? Does the above description sound familiar to anyone?
Some background, the Pajero has around 220 000 km on the clock. I had the head gasket redone recently as it overheated briefly due to thermostat failure. The workshop who did the work on the head said there was no major damage.
