Replacing throttle (kick-back) cable on gearbox
I had to replace the throttle cable on my 1999 Pajero 3.5 GLS Automatic. Right next to the entry of the cable in the gearbox casing is what seems to be an "inspection cover" which I thought is where it will give you access to hook/unhook the cable on the inside of the transmission. After removing this cover I realized that it is not the case as this is the housing for some sort of diaphragm. I subsequently discovered that the cable needs to be unhooked/hooked from the bottom of the gearbox with the "sump cover" removed. This is all fine now but now I have a problem to get this "inpection cover" back as it seems that the center pin is now "too long" and pushes against the cover when I want to re-insert it. Although the "diaphragm" is spring loaded and can be pushed back the center pin seems to be solid. Does anyone know what is happening here and how i can get it back.
