Brake Disc Pads for Gen3
Hi Guys

Congrats on he new forum, I registered a while back already but I have been too busy to visit regularly. In any case the Pajero has been purring along very well with very little attention needed, is is so nice to know you can trust your daily runner to just keep on going without much hassle.

The last time I bought MecArm disk pads as I could not find Ferodo Premier for the front of the Pajero. I used Ferodo Premiers in the back.

The MecArm's braking ability is very good and the do not dirty up the rims to much and gave good life. I did not keep proper track but I guess they have done between 40 000 to 50 000 kms now. The one big complaint I have with them is more a case of irritation then anything else. Since my van is an auto one tend to crawl forward slowly from time to time against the brakes like when at a robot and then they make a horrible vibration noise. I hoped this time I could find another brand that would be quiter.

They are not completely finished but the rear ones are on their way out. The oukie at the Autozone showed me in their catalogue that Ferodo do not make the pads for the front at all only the rears. What a pity. the pads they stock is a product I am not to familiar with or have any experience on. It is called Wagner and it is also distributed by Federal Mogul the same okes who does Ferodo.

Does anyone know or have experience with this brand? What brand does the stealer sell?

P.S. I see you guys have the same problems we have on the Hilux forum where you struggle to upload photos with 3G. I tried loading it but the forum timed out, got out of bed switched on my ADSL which the kids unpluged and voila, I can upload attachments ;)

The pics and this site says it's Federal Mogul, which is a well known brand, which I will trust.

Thanks Gerhard that was my thoughts too, But there are even certain Ferodo models like the platinum that people are ot too happy with so I just thought I want to hear from people who may have used them before, or am I the only guy who do not like supporting the stealers
Re: Brake Disc Pads for Gen3
Supporting stealers?

That used to be my philosophy as well, before I bought the Pajero.
Since then I have learned to check Mitsu prices first.

eg
Clutch kit
Oil Filters

both cheaper (& better?) than after-market.

Re: Brake Disc Pads for Gen3
Yip, I always check the agents' prices first. They are often cheaper. On the Gen 3 DiD the oil filter (same as used on the 4M40 motor in the Gen 2 Paj/Clot) is cheaper than a GUD/Fram equivalent, but the air filter is more expensive from the agents. My brake pads were replaced (at 97000 km) while the car was still under motorplan and have now done about 80000 km, so I am following this thread with interest...

I am supporting the stealers. :)

On my 2001 gen 3 diesel(Not sure if the later models have bigger brakes?):

Front brake pads LLMR510539- R673.03(ex Vat) - Replaced 23/07/2008
Rear brake pads LLMR510544- R629.34(ex VAT) - Replaced 07/01/2009

Is this too much? Don't ask about the labour though:)

Re: Brake Disc Pads for Gen3
From what I remember the guy at autozone told me the pricing at the steales is about R100 more. How good is their pads (life vd brake power) and how much black yukkie stuff on your rims?
Re: Brake Disc Pads for Gen3
Bennie

Brake power is excelent on the Mitsu pads. They are also noise free. They do however leave a bit of brakedust on the front rims, which need a good clean every week at least.
