Hi Guys
Had an interesting (worrying?) experience yesterday returning from Durban to Port Edward. About 10km's out of DBN, driving at about 110k's, the car seemed to "hiccup" twice in short succession. I noticed everytime that the speedometer indication fell excessively (the speed could not have dropped so far in that very short time period) during the "hiccup". Could it have been a split second total electrical cutout everytime? Otherwise what could have caused the speedo indication drops? As mentioned, the "cutouts" were split second and the car recovered immediately and continued the rest of the way (+-150km's) without further problems. What do you Pajero-knowledgeable guys think happened and should I be worried about it?
PS. Drove the car to town this morning and everything was normal.
sounds like a dodgy ignition module. try jiggling the key while driving and see if it does the same.
obviously choose a safe area to do this.

George,
I suggest you check on all after market cabling and wiring such as amps, 2nd battery or plugs. One of these cables may possibly have shorted to earth momentarily and then cleared itself again soon after. It'll be worth a try.

Thanks for your promt responses! I am definitely going to try both suggestions although I suspect the most likely problem is the ignition as I don't have a second battery yet and I don't know of any other possible aftermarket wiring changes/additions.
Will let you guys know the results. Thanks once again.

I tried the key jiggle thing but with no result. I last said that I did not know of any afftermarket equipment and wiring in the car but subsequently remembered about the Sanji Intellica Alarm, Immobiliser and Anti-hijack system that is installed (bought it like that). Lately the alarm sirens haven't been working as they should when locking and unlocking the car and to my mind, if there is something wrong there, a faulty alarm and immoboliser system could well have caused the momentary symptoms I experienced - or not? What do you guys think?
Anyway, the car has to go in for a service shortly and I will have the system checked then. Up to now there hasn't been a repeat of the symptoms though.

Always difficult to trace an intermittend problem like this. However I suggest if the problem becomes more regular do have the alarm/immobiliser bypassed and see what happens. It is very likely to be the cause of your problem.
