Hi!
I have a 2000 Gen 2 Pajero. My compass is about 45 degrees out. I have done the routine to calibrate it (pressed the reset button and circled until it set) but it remains out of by the same angle.
Is there anyone that knows how to fix this?
Thanks,
Anton
just turn the compass sensor 45 degrees offset
You can't on a Gen2.RoelfleRoux wrote:Anton,
Did you set the magnetic declination?

I have a suspicion that there is something causing interference on that compass.

I did not want to dare scratching in the console without having an idea of what I am doing. I assume there is a sensor that can be turned - probably came loose. I'll go scratch now. Assuming the sensor is right behind the compass, and not hidden somewhere in the dash...4ePikanini wrote:just turn the compass sensor 45 degrees offset

The sensor is that thing in right in the middle on top of the dash next to the windscreentonton wrote:I did not want to dare scratching in the console without having an idea of what I am doing. The compass on my car (2006 SWB) is useless. Sometimes it seems to be reasonably accurate and next time you look it is 90deg out.
I also have a little sensor on the dash in the middle next to the windshield. Always thought that was one of the climate control sensors.
It would be nice for me to know 1)what that sensor is really for 2)if it is possible to "quickfix" my compass.
Thanks

Mine does not have a sensor on top of the dash (near the windscreen). They probably moved it in the blister fender models? However, I found the solution in the Owners Manual (which I only received from the previous owner yesterday). The reset button has two functions - one to set the compass (where you press the reset button and drive in a circle untill it sets, and the other where you hold the reset button for at least 5 sec's, then you can calibrate it if it is consistently off-centre. This sorted my problem out (hoping it lasts...).
I will print a pdf of the setting of the compass and pass it on to the forum. Try it. Tha manual also warnd that the AC fan may interfere with the compass. Same applies to any mother magnetic interference.RoelfleRoux wrote:The compass on my car (2006 SWB) is useless. Sometimes it seems to be reasonably accurate and next time you look it is 90deg out.

Hope you find your solution too.

Thanks,
My problem in not a constant error (declination), but an intermittent and varying error.
I'll see if I can figure out if there are external noticeable influences.

Your model is a new generation and 6 years younger - probably all-new technology.
Remember - cellphones are also disturbances in magnetic fields.
Hope you find your fix!
