Hi Cobus

Welcome here, as 1/2 pint 4e said, cambelt - quite important, only real other problem that might get you stuck on the side of the road is lack of fuel in the tank  Those baby's are quite bullet proof and do not have issues. As long as all the gears engage and there are no scary noises from the drive train you should not have problems.

Thank u very much ,I am seriously considering this vehicle ,what is the fuel consumption +_ on these cars and what would a fair price be to pay for one if in a fair condition ?

don't be fooled. A big 3.5 V6 petrol engine pulling a 2ton car with the aerodynamics of a brick can be heavy.

expect 13 - 20l/100km depending on driving style.

But they go like a train and are comfortable as hell, oh, and did I mention the sound they make. 8-)

I agree with 4ePikanini: I used to own a 2000 Gen 2 3.5 V6 Auto (two actually) and the typical fuel consumption in town driving was around the 20l/100km mark (my wife used it as a daily driver and she does enjoy using the available performance). On long trips on the open road, the best consumption was just over 13l/100km. The manual transmission versions would fare slightly better.

OOO eina I expected it to be heavy ,what is your consumption on the 3.o lt ?
Re: 3.5 pajero 1997 model What is the catch !!
The 3.0 won't do better than the 3.5. If anything it would be fractionally worse.

The best I got with my 3.5 V6 Gen 2.5 was around 6.8km/l, maybe 7km/l on the open road.

These cars are sturdy and strong - I recently walked away from a major accident: Pajero written off, one knee operation and a few scratches. My dad commented that he loved the seats, it did not tire him on long drives.
