Hi there guys,
I am looking at fitting a storage system to my Pajero - a 2008 DiD LWB GLX. I have had a look at the African Outback system and although nice, my problem is that it must accomodate an 80L Engel and my previous experience with the outback system is that the fridge is hellishly high for the wife and kids to get to, sliding from atop the drawer system.
I am looking for something where there is a fridge slide on the one side where the fridge effectively slides out from "base" level, with some drawers on the other side and packing space on top.
Can anyone recommend me a drawer system that roughly complies with these requirements to look at?
Thanks and have a great spring day!
Cheers
Erik
Hi Erik
Something like that you will custom build I can assist if you like. I have built my own sort of a false bottom at the back. I actually prefer the height. What I did is to build a false bottom about 300mm high. Underneath it at have fitted an 80 Lt Water tank right against the back seat. That leaves the compartment in the back of the Pajero still accessible. If you fit a slider there or drawers you are going to lose that compartment. I have my compressor, recovery straps and air jack in there. What I did on the top was to fit my slider on the left-hand side, sliding to the front. It is directly behind the seat. So my kids fold the small seat down pull the fridge to the front over the seat and whala the can pass those necessary voggies to me. The same when standing open the left back door and we can get whatever we want. I must say I have a 50 Lt Waeco fridge and the lid is interchangeable.
The other negative thing having it on the floor is that you lose a lot of space, because you cannot fit it against the side you have to fit it so that it can clear the door frame, and you will lose a lot of space.
Erik I have build many custom build drawer systems and if you have the time I can build whatever you want, I am in Eritrea at the moment and do not have many photos on the Laptop but Look at the photo of the Canopy setup I have built. I think this is what you have in mind.
I hope this make sense?

Hi Erik,
I build this one for less than R 2k
and it works like a charm. You can custom build it according to your needs. PM me & we can assemble in in a Saturday.
System consist of:
-Slide for 40lt Engel
-Drawer under fridge slide for goodies
-Flat work space above big drawer, to pour your drink
-Drawer on right for bigger goodies or 2x Wolfpacks
-Utility box for snachblock, compressor, tyre repair kit etc (in front of fridge slide against seat)

Easy enough to build your ownDogbert wrote:That's nice! Where can I get one in Cape Town?

Those slider components available separately? Sorry for all the questions. My metal work / wood work skills are pretty dodgy but I'm always willing to try

They are Furnlock heavy duty slides by the looks of it. You can get them from SISO SA in Plattekloof (or Builders IIRC)Dogbert wrote:Those slider components available separately? Sorry for all the questions. My metal work / wood work skills are pretty dodgy but I'm always willing to try

Yip, as Simon said (he he
) easy to build yourself. The frame is made of 25x25mm square aluminium tubing, and the rest is conect-it bought from Maizeys Plastics. capetown@maizey.co.za / (021) 511-9783 The only limitation is your imagination

Alegro,
That drawer system looks really nice. Just 1 question, how do you get access to your 3rd row seats storage space when the drawer is in. I stopped at a storage shelf on my CK LWB so that I could still keep access to this area, would be nice to see what you did here. Here is the link to mine, will do an update on the Pajero club site soon. Mine is a bit more basic in camparison to yours
