Oil under the front of the car...
Dear all,

I am looking for a used Pajero. Most of the vehicles I had a look at are oily under the front suspension. That should not be the case i guess? Is this a typical problem for pajeros? What to think about it?

Re: Oil under the front of the car...
the V6 models tend to leak at the half moon cam cap seals on the back of the head.

Other than that it leaks at the seal where the drive shafts enter the diffs or transfer case due to an unbalanced shaft ( balance weight thrown off).

It can be the same problem that I had after having had my Gen 3 serviced once. Not a serious problem.

What happens is the service personnel often take a shortcut when draining off the old oil. They do not completely remove the under sump cover. They only undo two bolts so they can get to the plug. The old oil then runs over the sump cover before it is collected in the waste bin. The cover never gets cleaned properly and it looks like an oil leak. Otherwise these cars do not really leak oil as a rule.

Oil on the lower parts is not serious, but it shouldn't drop oil.Try to see where the car is normally parked.
