I was looking at ways to get my consumption down as it was doing 20l/100km which I thought was too much.
I did the following
- make sure the spark plug gaps are correct
- clean the spark plug wire connections
- clean all the electrical connections
- set the timing to 7 BTDC (95 octane at the coast) - witin mitsu spec
- replaced the viscous fan clutch
- adjusted the TPS according the mitsu manual
- cleaned all grounds, battery terminals and alternator connections.
My last measurement was 17l/100km
I still need to change the thermostat from an 82 to an 88 degree and change out the coolant temp sensor as it still smells a bit rich for me.

I dropped 3l/100km by reducing the cruising speed from 125 (13l/100) to 105 (10l/100km).
Did you not fit the electric fan, but rather replaced the fan clutch?

I wired in a manual override switch for the front A/C fan and replaced the viscous fan clutch with a 4M40 viscous clutch (it sits about 1.5mm closer to the radiator), so I can have the fan on permanently if I wish.RoelfleRoux wrote:I dropped 3l/100km by reducing the cruising speed from 125 (13l/100) to 105 (10l/100km).

I still want to replace the CTS and the thermostat (currently using an 82c thermostat where the 88c is the correct one)
I was amased by the volume of air that the mechanical fan could displace (at adle revs) when the clutch is engaged. Are you happy with the condition of the actual fan blades?
Other than very slight discoloration they show no signs of fatigue or stress cracks.RoelfleRoux wrote:I was amased by the volume of air that the mechanical fan could displace (at adle revs) when the clutch is engaged. Are you happy with the condition of the actual fan blades?

How much did the above cost you, in parts/extras etc, I need to look at doing this, but will have to go to my mackie to find out how much he will charge me to do all this.
As I no not have the know-how or the space
Viscous fan clutch was a generic for R800
Thermostat was an original from Mitsu R240
Labour is about 2 hours.
