Today we (4wdc-wc) had a jaunt to Damon 4x4, just outside Worcester on the DeWet Overhex road. It's not the most challenging trail, but it has some excellent views. There are some steep ascents and descents. Using LR 1st up steep hills, when the temperature is in the mid-30 bracket, with the aircon on, leaves the Pajero's cooling system struggling to cope. This I also found in the Tankwa when the temperatures were in the 40's.
Grading... 3... not sure what it would be in the wet, but they have only had 50mm of rain this year.
But all in all a good day was had.
Simon,
Lovely pics!
I've done that trail some 5 years ago - nice ride. Agreed not too demanding, but the beautiful view compensated.
I'd love to go there again someday...

Simon,
Never had a problem yesterday, also LR 1st, temp gauge stayed at normal just above half.
Had a radiator test done a few months ago at Silverton M Gdns, to discover that only the top 15 odd cm was working, the rest totally blocked, just waiting for something to go. A full radiator clean and refurb for R798.00 I thought was not bad, considering the diagnosis and elimination of a potentially costly problem. My temp gauge never showed up anything though.

Nice pics! (you are really putting that canon through its paces!)
Your engine should never overheat! (anything above normal is 'overheating').
Have it checked, flushed etc.
Marius's Gen2 has a 3-core radiator (sponsored by Dad) and since he fixed the viscous coupling on the fan, the needle does not move from normal, even doing trails)
