I need to know the type (code) gearbox is in my Gen 2. It is a manual 1996 2,8 TDI Pajero with the 4M40 engine. It seems like it was one of those complete imported at the time by Sigma.High roof.
The reason for asking is that my speedo packed up. That little gear on the rear side of the box stripped. The one with the plug on for the speedo. After looking around I could not find that part anywhere. Even Parthunt says it is different than the normal fitting (plug).
I am driving without a speedo for months now and rely on the revs to determine my speed. (compared it on the GPS to get a benchmark).
Hence I developed a spreadsheet to monitor the fuel fill-ups. I record the litres used and work out more or less 8km/l and service accordingly. Ha,ha, another way to do it though.
Where can I find that piece of thing please?
