Have just had my valve adjusters, cam belt and and water pump replaced. Now whenever I am riding I can hear the sound of water as if running thru a half filled pipe in the vicinity of the dashboard. When the waterpump was replaced I would think that all the coolant/water drained out of the system? Including the pipes that bring heated water to the heater in the car. Is it possible that the system was not bled properly when the new water and coolant was put back into the cooling system? or is the system self adjusting. You can definitely hear water cushing thru a pipe(s) when stopping and pulling/reving the engine to pull off? How can one ensure that the water system is full up with no air pockets?

put heater on full and let car idle up to operating temp while the radiator cap is open.
keep a constant eye on the temp gauge in the car
massage & squeeze the coolant hoses you can get to in the engine bay
be careful for moving belts, fans & hot areas.
keep topping up the radiator.

Sounds like air in the heater system.
Top up with coolant mix (not water!)
- get engine to ±operating temp, with radiator cap off, heater on max.
- park Pajero with nose very high
- fast idle
- check that water circulates through radiator

No, my sound of water running thru the pipes in the dashboard is still there.
I parked the vehicle on a sharp incline and let it heat up to operating temperture with the radiator cap off. The water in the radiator was just under the neck of the opening to neck where the cap fits. Every now and then a small bubble of air would appear. After about 15 minutes the air bubbles seemed to have stopped. I had the control arm set to the hot(red) mark the whole time. I then turned the enginge off and about twenty minutes restarted and the gushing water sound was there again but much less than previusly. On the next day Sunday I repeated the whole exercise again. Still have not been able to get rid of the gushing water in the pipes.
What I have noticed is that when I check the water level in the radiator it has dropped from under the filler by abour 15mm .I first though that this was from a leak but then I noticed that the plastic container into which the overflow from the raditor was attached was getting fuller almost up the to the top. So for some reason when the system is getting hot the water is being forced out of the radiator into the plastic tank. All the topping up that I am doing is being ejected into the plactic container?

Further to my reply I have not actualy been able to see if the water is actualy flowing in the radiator. The seems to be a slight current movement. How fast is the water suppose to be moving thru the radiator when you look in the filler opening?

The hotter the coolant, the more the TS opens, the more you will see water flow (this is also tied to rpm)
