Hmmm I didn't know there were different lifters which could be used to quieten the V6 signature tune.4ePikanini wrote:I also saw the lifters and they are the new type with the big hole - which explains why they were quiet when I got the car regardless of the negligence by the previous owner.

Jip. FrankR from 4x4wire discussed this with me.
Old on the right and new on the left

I'm not sure. Mine had them in so they either came like that from the factory or the heads have been off and mitsu only sells the new type now.SimonB wrote:Are those available in SA?
My speculation only

I'm starting to think about the monitoring of the vitals on my engine.
Where is a good place to get
oil pressure feed?
oil temp feed?
water temp feed? ( depending on the answer of question below )
Is the standard temp gauge measuring the water pre or post thermostat? I would think pre- thermostat because you can see the temp rise but this can also be due to heat transferred through the metal. I want to be sure as I want the temp reading before the thermostat as a stuck thermostat will show the heat rising on the standard gauge quicker than a post thermostat location.

Great job and thanks for the updates. The cost thus far seem reasonable, I would say.
