SimonB as well as Tonton know how I've struggled with timing on my 1997 Pajero 3.5v6 24v AT for sometime since i've bought the vehicle in February 2010. It came without a service record but the clock was on 80000km

I then took the car to a guy which is a qualified mechanic and I thought that this guy would be able to do a major service on my car. Since he worked on my car the timing was out and after I spoke to him he got aggetated with me telling me that he knows what he does and he will not set the timing backs to what it was because he will not be liable if the motor goes. I took it to a second mechanic who said that the timing was still out and he reset the timing to what he thought is best

Then I came to a time in my life where I wanted to get rid of the car asap and very urgently

On Tuesday morning I took the car to a 3rd mechanic after I spoke to my bookkeeper (he himself has 2 Pajero's, 3L SWB and Gen 2 Blister 3.5 V6) On Tuesday afternoon the mechanic told me that he will not deliver the car as he is not happy with it yet, after timing on cams and crank have been set to their marks. I took delivery today and he then showed me that at the back of the gear on the crank where the belt runs on is a settingplate or something (I don't know exactly what it's called) but the points on the plate where it fits onto/into the engine was broken of. Now my car is a totally new car.

It pulls like hell and even from 120km/h uphill it just keeps on picking up speed even without it gearing back

Before I had to use the A/T Mode button on the car to get it to gear down at higher speeds above 100km/h. I live in Groot Brak Rivier which is between George and Mosselbay and I am going to give this mechanic's number and adress; DOUGIE'S PERFORMANCE AND SERVICE SHOP, UNIT 23 GEORGE INDUSTRIAL PARK, ALBERT STREET, GEORGE.
