3.2 DI-D Flywheel replacement
Hi All

I have taken out my gearbox this weekend and need some advise. I think (mever seen one before now) has come to the end of its lifespan (198000 km). There was lots of thick grease in the bell housing and also on the flywheel. Clutch plate almost on the rivets and blueish burn marks on the pressure plate and flywheel.

Now I need some help from the guys that know. There is a t connection on the vacumm lines that goes to the pump, but only one pipe. This goes onto the t on the pipe. The other end seems to go nowhere and is openat the end. is this correct or should this be a closed pipe and no t piece at this point A on photo.

Comments please

Progress update

Replaced All components on Friday night. Replaced rear cranck seal and also release bearing. Cleaned flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate. Removed fork and lubed. Must admit, this is not an easy one man job mainly due to weight and size of gearbox. Special thanks to my Jessie and Migual ( 13 and 11) for the help. Also thanks to Pashka and Anton.

I am now very surprised at how soft the clutch is. The gear slap on startup and rough idleing is now gone. No signs of any shrudder on pull away.

Word of warning, be careful with old plastic components. I broke the front speed sensor (R560) and also the vacumm pipe fitting on pump ( read about this earlier, but still was not careful enought )   . I repaired this by tapping a new hole and inserts a plug and now all waorking again

Thanks to all previous post. This has been a huge help for DIY

Hi Marius

I replaced with a dual mass. I sourced a motor for Pashka and his Pajero was an auto and he said that I can have the flywheel and plate. Apparently motor had only done 130000km. I had a friend at Schaeffler/LUK check everything for me before using and the parts were still in good condition.
