Just a request :?:

Not sure how many people are attending with kids included. Mine are certainly coming with(aged 3,5 and 8). As we will be driving up on the Friday, around 4,5-5 hours drive from Centurion and back again on Sunday, again 5 hours in the car, can I request that either A, the Saturday trip be shortened to be back at camp early afternoon or B, have the option for guys like me to drop away just after the lunch stop to be back at base early afternoon, while the rest continue and enjoy sun-downers somewhere on the mountain.

This will give the kids a chance to run around on the grass, possibly drive their bikes, etc and just prevent a bit of cabin fever. I realize that we will be stopping often on the day trip and that we do not cover much ground in terms of miles, but to have the kids in a car, even in and out, for anything longer than 5 hours max will be getting on their nerves, then their moms nerves and finally on my nerves.

Please help  :|

CATS,

No problem - there is an escape route.

When we drop down to the "museum" and the "Golden Quarry", we get very close to civilisation. You can either drop out there or continue with us and trace your steps back, when you feel you have had enough.

BUT,
1)The drive from the Pta area is more like 3.5 hours max.
2)You will be surprised how much fun the boys could have on the mountain
3)I know of at least one other family with young boys. I remember how our kids used to "secure the perimiter" with their guns every time we stopped, and made sure they didn't leave a single fallen comrade behind when we got going again.

Hi Roelf,

Accommodation organised (well it's paid for so hopefully all square :) ) - so confirm another Paj on the mountain.

Cheers
Tom

Excellent news Tom.

Please drop me a PM with some contact details and the make-up of your team and where you are staying - if you don't mind. I'll reciprocate with my details.

Cheers
Roelf

The approach route, from the valley floor, was slashed today to preserve the paintwork on your Mall Crawlers.

Lekker!

Just to comment on what was mentioned earlier about the radios... For what it's worth, I'll bring my 2 UHF guys along - not sure if they can talk to other UHF radios, but will have them anyway.

Maybe if others can bring their ones along we can spread the radio net a bit wider and have more guys realise when the stopping happens :)

It's been a long time since I viewed this thread, but it seems to be coming along nicely Roelf. With the recent and current rain we are having the mountain will be beautiful.

I was worried about missing the trip due to a recent knee operation, but reckon it just might be ok for the event.

Roelf, may I make a suggestion? Maybe keep all the arrangements in one post and just add on or change where needed? Reckon post #1. will do - dont want to miss any details or arrangements...................ok ok, I am just lazy reading all 11 pages of this thread! ;)

John, cool idea.

I have started a new thread in this section with the arrangements on one page.

I will continue to use this thread for my ramblings ;)
As far as I'm concerned is my car parked at the real start to the adventure in the following pic (point "01 Start" in attached GE image).
