We're waiting for Simon - HDP Thread.

OK have changed the topic a little to be van Zyls, shocks and spacers. After doing a few searches I have found that a few aussies have done the spacers as well as can be read in the below links and for the rear spacers they have user the LC 80 series front spacers for the rear with great success only thing indicated is as follows:

Front 10mm spacer = 20mm increase
Rear 10mm spacer = 30mm increase

So my question is around the HDP shocks and the different settings for the spacers on the front shocks, can they be moved up, and at what space intervals for the Gen3?

Does anybody know if the KYB shocks support the spacers as well as the Monroe Gas Magnum?

Now have found some Cruiser 80 series spacers from 20USD to around 75AussieD. Uys from 4x4 community has estimated around R1200 for rear and around R1600 for front, but if shocks can do it, and I can get the 80 series for a few hundred rand, I will be a happy camper, then it will be just shocks that can be adjusted up front and spacers for the rear with new shcosk and airbags.

Gabriel HDP up front (lift using adjustable spring perch).
Spacers at the rear.
Airbags at the rear - I need this! The rear sags a lot when I overland!

I do not understand why the Pajero spring go "soft" A friend of mine has a 2002 3.2DID and it is just short off
300 000km on the clock. For me, the ride height of his Pajero is the same as for most / all the other standard Pajeros. After I did a body lift job on my Pajero, we measures the ground clearance and the diffirence between our teo pajeros, was the amount of lift that I added to mine.

I have had a number of cars with high miles on the clock before selling them and never needed to change coils - Borgward: 156 000 miles, Peogeot 404: 100 000 miles, Volvo 145: 145 000 km, Opel Kadett S/W: 150 000 km, Porsche 928: 150 000km, Ford Sierra S/W: 200 000+km. So I do not understand.

I wish I new. I do know that mine has sagged by about 10-30mm in front and 30-50mm at the back after 240 000km (cannot remember exactly atm). Have you compared yours to the standard of 504mm (front) and 533mm (rear)?

The measurement is from the center of the hub to the top of the wheel arch opening. This Road Vehicle Descriptor page from down under has the specs. Edit: This is for 2001 V6 model. DiD and later models might be different.

I recon this is one of the reasons people are quoting so many different results when lifting the vehicles. Normally, when fitting new suspension, the fitment center just measures the before and after height, but never compares it to the default.

Anybody heard about Darryl from Mikem suspension? I see they import bilstein shocks, and seem to be liked by the hilux forum guys.

I've asked him for his recommendation... Lets see what he says.

They have not done a Gen4 before, so I will have to take my car in for them to check out. Off-hand, how much different are the Gen3 and Gen4 suspensions? (shocks, coils, measurements of height, etc.)?

They have a kit for the Gen3 - uses Bilstein shocks all round, with progressive coils at the back.

What else would you like to know?

I know that Mikem Suspension (Darrel) seem to have a good reputation... but when I inquired, I got very bad service. After a few phone calls and emails, I just gave up - he never got back to me. They didn't come across are a serious company.

We had discussed Bilstein shocks (with adjustable spring perch in the front, for a bit of lift), and OME springs at the rear.

I'll check him out over the next few weeks, and will post an update.
