soak in penetrating oil for a few days. Heat!Wessel wrote:Hi all,
Had my OME installed yesterday and can't wait to see vehicle. Johann from first alignment however phoned and said my 4 adjusting cam bolts (I think..) are rusted in so badly and alignment is bad.
He recommended going to Mitsu to try and replace bolts.
Any advice on removing these bolts ?
Is there any preventative maintenance that can be done to prevent these bolts rusting? Maybe do this during wheel alignment?
Maybe spray with silicon or oil? Anyone know exactly where they are? But then the adjustments might move on their own?

HI Greg,
Good question. I'd also like to know. Probably rinsing after going off road, regularly lubricating and regularly doing wheel alignment and asking them to lubricate.
Workshop tried everything, two bolts moves, but whole bush turns around being rusted to the bolt. Alingment specialist careful to take on job, but says only option is to carefully cut out with cutting torch.
Mitsu says they have no bolts in stock - order from Japan takes approx. 3 weeks. Do I have any other options to get new bolts ?

I think Marius has the best idea as far as the penetrating oil and heat, one of the best penetrating oils that I have found is good old brake fluid, just be careful of painted areas as it is even better as a paint remover
Have a look at the breakers for a good set of second hand bolts.

I contacted Philip Lutz (Monroe/Tenneco SA), to confirm for the Monroe Adventure shocks - see the reply below:
Hi John
Our shocks are designed around the original Mitsubishi shock and spring specs.
Our Monroe lengths are as follows:
FRONT D8005 = compressed 327mm, extended 470mm
REAR D7003 = compressed 350mm, extended 575mm
Please be aware that if the vehiclesuspension is modified in any way from the original Mitsubishi spec, the Monroe warranty will fall away.
Regards

Just spoke to Daryll at Mikem Suspensions.
They only have back coils for the Gen 3 (@ R850 each excl VAT), the front coils still need to be designed and tested.
Yo can expect +/- 35-40mm lift on the back with their coils.

Finally got my Paj back on Wednesday. Fitted OME heavy duty coils and shocks. Considerable lift. Wasn't sure what to expect with the heavy duty coils, but glad I took them. Considerable lift and ride quality fine with empty car. Planning trip to Trekoskraal on Sunday

Congrats Wessel and Wannies on your upgrades,
But I am sure you both know the rule - without pictures, it didn't happen
