If we over-do the stopping, we may have to take a shortcut off the mountain at sunset.

I may not be a 4x4 fundi, but this I CAN certainly assist you with! Straight down the mountain without a 4x4, silent, no noise - just a wing overhead, now that is a sight to behold gents :D

are we spending both nights in town / diggers, or 1 night up there?

Given that its short stop-overs, rooms might be preferred.

(although camping can also work if there isnt enough space)

Tying in those dots will be a full day's work. Best is to sleep over both nights (Fri and Sat).

I will try to negotiate a special deal with Mark for that weekend, but please do your own bookings.

If you want me to assist with any arrangements, then I'll be happy to do so.

I am still undecided if I will be camping or staying in the lodge. Sometimes its just easier for me to camp with my kids as everything is already packed. Where is the campsite, is it at the same place as the lodge or somewhere else? Dont want to miss out too much of the sundowner waterhole banter if the camp is some way from the lodge :?

We would have loved to attend, but ......

East London - Barberton = 1170km !

Add accommodation and 'sundries' to that and you are talking about a R6000 excursion!

The reason I consider Diggers Retreat as the best spot, is because everything is in one place. So whether you guys camp or stay in a room, or want to braai your own meat or be served off the fire, or eat off a menu... All will happen at the same venue. I have had a discussion with Mark and he is very flexible and will try to meet everybody's needs. He also promised to keep his rates as low as possible, because of the business this weekend will bring.

Mark doesn't promote his camping facility (something about the customer profile), but said if the guys drive Pajeros then they are welcome to camp.

Gerhard,

I understand and it is a great pity.

BUT, seeing that you plan to never retire, why not splash out on this one and take in a few days of the Kruger as well.
