I don't have a radio, but I do stop regularly to do one of the following:

1)Knock the top off a beer bottle against an outcrop.
2)See to the needs of my weak bladder
3)Pick up bits of Pajero as they fall off
4)Take a picture
5)Knock the top off a beer bottle against an outcrop.
6)Top-up a half empty radiator, sometimes I combine this with the needs of my weak bladder
7)Pick up another piece of Pajero
8)See to the needs of my weak bladder
9)Knock the top off a beer bottle against an outcrop.

I'm sure you guys will be able to catch up on the local gossip on any of those stops

Well, we have one month to go now.

Spring came and lasted a day, then summer arrived with a pleasant 37C on Saturday. Our big rains normally start in mid October, preceded by a build-up of heat and humidity during September. If things go according to script, we will have good under-wheel conditions, enough green and flowers and raptors to make for lovely photo opportunities and plenty heat and humidity to make a cold beverage oh so welcome every now and then.

As things stand at the moment, it would seem that a train of about nine Pajeros will take to the mountain that morning - the number of Pajeros to make it down is still with the jury.

A friend (and one of my more recent converts to Pajero) asked me this weekend if his white Gen4 will get scratched on the mountain. Here is my answer: I undertake to clear the tracks in the weeks leading up to the trip. I will have implements with me on the day to take care of harmfull branches that slipped past the clearing process. For the rest, buy a good polishing agent and give your Pajero a good rubbing down after the trip. That said, only the slopes leading up to the mountain are covered in brush. The bulk of the trip is done in grass, which has been hammered by veld fires this winter.

I'm hopeing for a few late entries to make the Pajero train even longer.

If only I was told about the beer bottels and outcrops earlier : ( Would have posponed my Flower trip to Springbok... PS The back door latch works just as well as an outcrop

Too late to cry over spilt ..... "milk" , I believe is the saying

Following a much needed push from behind (thanks Martin have I reconsidered the whole route. The following changes will apply (when compared to the original GoogleEarth pic I posted)

1)The route is to be reversed - will start at the "end" marker.
2)We will exit the route high up on the Bulembu pass.

Why these changes you may ask:
The new direction is the more difficult one. More low range climbing, crashing of gears and slipping of T/C discs.
The last (revised) portion of the route is through some of the most scenic areas on display anywhere in this country. We will exit via the Mountainlands Wild Life estate - courtesy of the owner Nico Oosthuizen. This link will give you a better idea of what to expect - http://www.mountainlands.co.za/
This route is a touch longer and thus allows us to enjoy our Pajeros a touch longer.
The trip down Builembu pass goes past one of our favourite sunset spots - the Die Hards in the group may be tempted to halt there and force the sun below the rim.

I will create a new G/E picture with new waypoints and I will post the new wayponts again.
