I'm sure you guys will be able to catch up on the local gossip on any of those stops

I LIKE!!!!!!
Looks like I should get an extra coolerbox for the trip!!!

Masker,
I have attached a doc-file (also posted earlier in this thread) to help you with your planning.
But the basics are:
1)To the best of my knowledge will three families be staying at Diggers; you, CATS and 4x4fan. Two other families are in seperate guesthouses; one in town and one on the mountain other side of town. Two, maybe three Pajeros will be joining us from Nelspruit on the Sat morning.
2)Due to the spread-out nature of the Fri accomm and the varying times of arrival, is it not too feasible to arrange a formal get-to-gether. Logic suggests that the Diggers crowd bump into each other.
3)The departure time (from Diggers) on the Sat morning is 9am.
4)Each family must please have their own picknic and cooler boxes of provisions to last until late afternoon.
5)Diggers will provide a fire for the Sat evening. The members must decide if they want Mark to feed them or if they want to do their own thing on his fire. I suggest you guys contact Mark directly (013 719 9681) in advance to discuss your choice. It will be pleasant if all the Pajeros could be there on the Sat evening.
6)The Sunday is open for discussion (as alluded to in my attached doc). I have the day open so could possibly assist if the need arises.
I hope this helps with your planning.
Regards
Roelf

I'm sure we can squeeze a few more in

If space gets too tight, we'll have to insist on SWB Pajeros only

It looks like my earlier attempt to get a standard radio/frequency for communication on this trip is a bit senseless as not enough people have radios/radios on similar frequency. As posted earlier I have one extra 29Meg radio which I will loan to Roelf and I propose that I then take the back of the convoy as tail-end-Charlie as I suppose Roelf will lead the way. This way at least we will have communication between front and back and make sure everyone gets up and down the mountain as part of the convoy. I will also have VHF in my car so me and Martin will also be able to communicate. If anyone else want to bring radios along they are most welcome. We currently have 29meg and VHF (Orra frequencies).

PS - We had our fist good dose of Spring rain here in Gauteng yesterday and today. Did you get any rains your way as well as preparation for the trip Roelf?

CATS,
I stupidly second guessed the weather in a previous post
1)We are getting heavy, long duration downpours at the moment.
2)It shouldn't really impact on our plans
3)During the X-mass weekend I took my BIL and FIL over the mountain in the 3.8V6 SWB in the middle of a similar downpour - it makes some of the steep outcrop traverses more interesting, with the dash lighting up like a X-mass tree as the T/C fights for traction
This rain is un-seasonal, so I'm not going to make any more predictions. The type of terrain we will be in is mostly solid rock, so even if we have rain that weekend things should be OK - only the comfort levels could drop a tad.
Radio:
I'll happily grab a radio, but when I have something to point out - I need to stop and I need room to wave my arms
We had radios for our Namib crossing and I must confess, it was really nice being in contact with the other cars.
