Hi Everybody,
My Pajero (2003 LWB 3.2 DID GLS) developed a leak on the front differential

. The arrow on the attached photo indicates the position where the oil is dripping out. I would like to know the procedure to replace the oil seal (I suppose the will be a seal) round the shaft operated by the servo pump.
Marius, I am sure you will be the one with the correct answer. Please see the photo below:
Thank you,
Waldo Fourie

I have exactly the same issue. I actually bought some extra diff oil this morning to top up the diff before I head back to East London from the northern cape.
I have the part on order - MR377487
But it has to come from Japan - 4-6 weeks
Is there further instructions in that manual on how to replace the seal?

Thank you Marius. Please explain why the part number is not the same as the number on the diagram.
Ehank you Gerhard. Same question as Marius. Do they tell you how to replace the seal?

The number on the image is the PNC number (Parts Name Code)
It denominates what part it is but certain vehicles have different part numbers with the same PNC
Example - The front springs for the gen3 diesel and petrol will have the same PNC but different part numbers as they have different load ratings.

I wanted to fill the diff with some oil before I drive back sunday (over 200km of gravel) so I wanted to make sure I can use 4x4.
I wondered why it was leaking and a thought popped into my head - maybe the breather is blocked.
Sure as hell, I follow the breather pipe and it is blocked solid.
I unblocked the breather and put a proper breather on, topped up the diff oil and cleaned all the muck under the boot, sprayed the actuator some WD40 and reassembled everything (biggest pain was the 4mm steel bash plate that weighs about 35kg)
I'll see how it goes now.
NB : The diff breather is located between the airbox and the brake booster - you will see a little steel pipe pointing upwards. (Follow the breather from the diff and make sure no-one has messed with the pipe configuration.)

Thanks Marius, I'll check that breather.
Do you know what that seal looks like? Ain't it just a normal oil sael?

it looks like a normal oil seal but in the middle of the seal is a copper sleeve.
