Crossmember - replace or modify ?

Hello,

I asked some questions around this in other posts but here is my more direct question with a pic:
crossmember_damage.jpg
There is some damage to the engine crossmember which caused the bashplate mounting point to be bend so it is difficult to use.
I want to fit a proper bashplate but have to fix this first.

Do I replace the crossmember or modify the mounting point or the new bashplate in someway so that it fits the mounting point ?
Your suggestions please.

Neil.

Hi Neil

I used those mounting points for my DIY belly plate. I recon you should cut the damaged points off and weld new ones on, it will be the cheapest option and you can mount them where it suits your plate design.

A 25x25x3mm angle iron, cut 30-40mm long with a nut (M8 or so) welded above a predrilled 9mm hole would work in my opinion.
