Driver side window
I lowered my driver side window and as it disappeared into the door, I heard a load bang and then the window stopped working I can hear the motor still turning. Mitsu want to charge my R 1200.00 for a new complete unit and R1000.00 to replace it. How can I remove the unit to see if I can resolve it myself. Maybe replacing a cable?

thanks
Re: Driver side window
I will speak from doing a window job on most cars. Maybe some one has done a Pajero specifically and can comment?. It sounds like the window has fallen out of the regulator. Maybe something just came apart and you can put it back together again. It is normally a terrible thing to work on if you have big hands. I would take the whole regulator out of the door. That way you can see what happened. Take the door panel / card securing screws out first. They are normally in the armrests etc. Be careful with the clips on the door card. Use something flat to go in behind the door card feel for each clip and unclip the clips one by one.

Re: Driver side window
So, got it removed and found the bottom cable snapped. I can find bicycle brake cables for around R20.00 but cannot find a place that would sell the lugs / crimp for the other side. I phoned 2 places now and they both want to work on the hole unit and the cost ranges R600.00 - R1200.00 depending if there are any other damaged etc.
Did anyone manage to successfully replaced their cable yet? Not sure if I should rather pay the R1200.00 agent fee for the new part or refurbish it with a 6 month guarantee for R600.00 - R1200.00.
Re: Driver side window
Bolt & nut suppliers & hardware suppliers have crimping sleeves from large (for winch cables etc) to small cable crimping sleeves. If you cannot source from such and you have to compromise, you can try the heavy duty electrical terminals (must be heavy duty ones) of a suitable wire size from an electrical supplier or battery centre. Just cut the eye for the terminal off.
Re: Driver side window
You can get cable (1.5mm) and ferrules from Builders Warehouse!

I have re-wound mine, but the plastic cable reel got damaged with the first crows nest so every now and again it gets stuck due to the cable not spooling up properly.

PS - If anybody has a unit lying around, I would appreciate the plastic bits!

Re: Driver side window
Cool. What type of ferrules did you purchase?
Re: Driver side window
Used these. Crimp them with a side cutter if you don't have a crimping tool.
