As said previously. We will be going to Namaqualand during September with an open agenda and will go where the wind blow us. There are so many places nearby like the Richtersveld, Namibia and the Kgalagadi that we may not be back by the 29th Sept. If we are, we will make a plan to join in on this trip.
Gert,
Enjoy your trip to my favorite part of the country. The Barberton Mountainland is not going anywhere soon. There will always be another opportunity.

It is still all systems "GO" for that weekend.
After sleepless nights and hours of deliberation, have I made a unilateral decision to reverse the original route - makes it more difficult

As mentioned earlier, I had to take some guys up the mountain to look at some rocks. I took the easiest route for a quick up and down.
Lots of veld fires in the valley.
Six weeks from now Spring would have cleared the air and turned the slopes a nice green colour.

We all have to look at something, some harder than others

EDIT: I mean a judge at the past Olympic event for a women's pole jump wont be bad hey?
I saw Prince Harry put in an official appearance at the women's beach volley ball. Suppose we can't all be royalty heh? Some of have to work for our money - even if it means looking at rocks

OK - Cant wait for this 'Rock and Roll' trip through the mountains around Baberton. Only question from me?
Has anyone given some thought to communication? It is always nice to chat to the rest of the guys in convoy en-route, especially with Roelf giving us some insight into the local formations of rocks etc.
Can we maybe start by getting an idea of what the other people going have available to decide on a std and then try and get the rest of the guys maybe loaned or rented units? I'll start:
CATS
29 meg - Yes
VHF - Yes
Both above are the ORRA channels
I also have a few licence free handheld UHF Zartek radios but they will obviously not work on the above channels and the range is a bit small.

Cats,
You won't need to have radios as you are in the mountains and by screaming loud enough you will have the echo to transfer your message
You guys must enjoy I will think of yous in the land of the red indians
