Andebenson and the other guys,
Andre give me a call. I have done it and can report that a lock-diff fitted to a T/C Pajero works like a charm. I have done a number of trips with my installation. This includes a five day trip in the NAMIB where we travelled for mst of the time with diff locked and depending on the sand either in high or low range. (012 567 4909 or 083 564 9141).

Cloyd and me, both fitted a Difflocks to our PJ's with TC. Mine was a 2006 SWB 3.8 V6 and I fitted a 2004 3.5 V6 which had the same ratio so I only fitted the rear diff. I bought all the spares, including the pump, switch, wiring from a scrapyard
While Freek at Mitspro swapped the centre diffs, I quickly run the wiring and screwed the pump into place. The total time to do the job was about 2hours. Inside the cab I removed a blank and fitted the original DL switch as well as a safety switch which supplies power to the whole system.(The safety switch is only there to prevent accidental power supply to the system) Please note that this system does not work via the computer systes of the vehicle. This makes it so much more fuctional as you can select DL in 2WD or 4WD or 4WDL or even 4WDLLc. I always tried to do the trials with the standard TC and only used my SECRET WEAPON
when in deep shi#, sorry mud. I am in the process at the moment to try and find myself a GEN4, 3.2DiDc GLX at a scrapyard to buy the diff and pump in order to do it again. It help a lot in the training of drivers as some vehicles have a difflock while others have TC. Please PM me if you require any additional info on how we did it

Thanks for the feedback guys,
I got my first quote in for an ARB locker: R20k including pump and "tyre inflate system" (hoses
) and labour. I think R20k is steep and will continue the search process.
Early next year will be serious decision time.

Just to complicate matters. The Gen4 has diff-lock in low range. Ergo, it has diff lock! I presume it has some electronic switch to activate when in low range, why can’t it work in high? Or is this just the center diff lock?
If you can feel the grass between your toe's, your flying too low!

Lock,
I think it is simply a case of "best practice". Diff lock at high speed can't be good for general road holding. The idea is to use it when the going is really tough, in other words you are already in low range. I'm sure you can trick the electronics and make it operational in high range as well. An ARB air locker operates completely independent of 4x4 selection option.

Hi Roelf
Can you tell us who you got your quote from. So far all the places I have contacted informed me that they do not have lockers for the Pajero's.

4x4Megaworld in Nelspruit, I have the guy's name and tell number in my office and will pass it on to you tomorrow.
I used the VIN Number of an 2008 3.2 GLX (Fried of mine) to obtain a quote from MMSA and they quote R24,610.00
for just the diff section without any switches, pipes, vacuum pump or any other accessories. So, the price of R20K with all the other goodies included is not so steep.
