Yes I have the 142page Overhaul Manual (apparently there is a 700 page version as well...)
I am taking the plunge on Monday to buy a second hand box from a low mileage 3.8. I am just worried because some-one said the valve bodies from the NM and NP models differ.. Maybe they just did an upgrade.. as long as ratios and electronics is the same I trust it will work! And as you said I can't find any evidence of different ratio's on the boxes.

I found one (actually complete vehicle service manual) on the forum under the downloads section, its for the American Mitsubishi Montero(same as Pajero), but AFAIK it has the identical box that we have in our vehicles - v5A51 INVECS II. I am also pretty certain that the only the diff ratio's are changed for the DiD and V6 petrol models, for contruction simplicity. Here are my V6 compared to the DiD drive ratio;s in the box
3.2 did : 3.5v6
1st 3.789 : 3.789
2nd 2.057 : 2.057
3rd 1.421 : 1.421
4th 1 : 1
5th 0.731 : 0.731 So it looks like the boxes are identical....
Good luck!![]()
