Re: Van Zyls Springs, shocks, airbags and spacers?
Hello Gemaskerde Tuinvurk et al ,

I have had the spacers fitted in front for my Bullbar and am concerned about the CV Boot angles. I need reliability as i am doing 6000km overland trip in July. I dont need to be splitting boots. I have EFS suspensension. I measured a total lift of about 83mm in the front. At the back i have heavy duty coil and am 40mm less than in front. So i have ordered a further 21mm spacer which should give 45mm lift in back , ie could have 100mm lift at back after all.

Can one get tougher CV Boots ? Any Warnings ?

I think you are pushing the boundaries a bit. I did much the same and after replacing front cv boots 3 times and rear once within say 15000km, I took the spacers out as together with my already lifted Iron man coils they were just too much for the cv boots to handle. I think the spacers work well with std suspension but combining them with longer coils and getting to 10cm lift over normal I think is too much.

The best quality cv boots are the ones from the dealers but as you sometimes have to wait a week or two if they dont have stock I ended up with pirate parts (part nr CV2K by memory), except for the last time when I took the spacers out and also waited for the original Mitsu cv boots to refit. The originals are also about 10 times the pirate price.

Remember that splitting cv boots will not stop you in your tracks out in the bush, but grit and sand getting into the cv itself will kill it over time, so if you have split cv boots replace them asap. I dont think the extreme lift will kill the cv's easily on the Pajero as they are super big and strong units, but it might damage the bearings inside over time.

Agree with Cats on this one - think you're pushing it if you go more than 6cm lift...

I've had mine now for just over 15000km (including a 4500km over landing trip I just returned from), with no visible deterioration of the cv boots.

Re: Van Zyls Springs, shocks, airbags and spacers?
Ok, so I have re-measured and the real lift achieved is 60mm in front and 65mm at the rear. There seems to be a limit because the EFS gives 40mm + Spacers should give a further 45mm at the rear for example, but I have 65mm. In the front is the same scenario EFS + 40mm + Spacer 40mm should give 80mm, but I have 60mm. Perhaps the Replacement bumper + Deep Cycle Battery can take it down 5 - 10mm. I have no issues with the CV Boots after >3000Km. I did take precaution and spray Silicon onto them. The tyre also was touching part of the Car frame (which I could bend out of the way) on full lock down a steep Gradient. All Sorted now. Does it not make sense to get spacers sizes 10.5mm at rear and 12.5mm in front to put on top of OME / EFS and achieve the 60 - 65mm lift with a slightly less stiff suspension ?

Hi,

My Paj dropped 15mm up front when I had by replacemenlt bar fitted. It weighs in around 45kg, That was on std oem coils.

Cheers
