ASC Light and engine light aan

Nie in my geval nie.

Daar is nie vooraf tekens nie. Sal mooi ry. Afsit, besigheid gaan doen, terug kom aan sit dat is die liggies aan en gaan dan eers weer oornag af om dan vir 'n dag of twee af te wees voor dit weer herhaal.

Ek is mal oor my kar maar as ek nie hulp kry nie... DALK 'n FORD

Nelspruit skyn maar 'n moeilike plek te wees as dit by die kar kom :ugeek:

Dirk

Interesting one this. I dont have ASC on my old 2001 model so dont have direct experience. What I have seen is that problem often refer to battery voltage problems. As a start maybe check the condition of your battery and that the terminals are very tight and secure.

Have you checked for any fault codes thrown up with the diy method? Maybe that can also point to some direction.

Please keep us updated as the solution, properly documented, will help other people in the future. As you say, currently there is a lot of talk on this problem but no propper solution posted.

Re: ASC Light and engine light aan
Dirk,
It is my experience that when you get these kind of lights in a combination, it does not indicate specifically anything that can be interpreted from the light icons. It rather seems to be there to draw your attention to the fault codes logged. You may want to try and do the DIY reading of fault codes, but best is to take it to someone that not only understands the meaning of the codes but someone that is also able to repair the problems associated with the fault codes. More often than not these kind of problems develop right inside the diesel pump and very few people have the equipment and experience to fiddle with the fuel pump. Unfortunately these problems often turn out to be quite expensive to repair. Think of R24.000 at least if the pump needs to be stripped, seals and bearing replaced and the pump re-calibrated. I can vouch for that. A new pump is about three times that cost. Yes some Pajero's seem to run for years with no pump problems, but the Gen 3's have a very temperamental electronically governed pump and many of them develop these problems.

Re: ASC Light and engine light aan
I reconsidered all the postings on all the international forms. Today I worked trough some of them in order to eliminate all possibilities.

One thing is clear from these forms - going the error code way will not always provide a solution. What was clear from all the postings was that most every car went in to limb mode. (mine did not?) The vehicle sort of go into self protection for some or the other reason.????

I checked every pipe and every connector that I could found. Added some engeltjie piepie here and there. Was just about to give up hope when I saw that there was no brake-fluid in the container.

After I filled it - nearly 250 ml - went for a drive. Both light remained off and the stamperigheid in gearbox gone! I hope for the best now!

Question - There should be a light somewhere to indicate low brake fluid levels?
Re: ASC Light and engine light aan
I haven't experienced it with the Pajero, but with my other vehicles the handbrake light came on when the brake fluid level was low. This then usually indicated that the brake pads were due for replacement.
