I am reaching out here as I just want to get some feedback to see if anyone else have has the same issue.

My 2015 Pajero Sport 2.5 - Goes Into Limp mode every now and them - Usually happens on an uphill.
The vehicle has a new turbo fitted about 1000km ago. It pops up the following error codes when this happens -

U1120 - This code refers to comms between the ECU and the Gearbox unit ( according to the scan tool )
P1298 - IDM Failure ( according to the scan tool )

So herewith my question - Its an intermittent fault. Happens one in a while.

I have tried to find the Gear Box Control unit - All I could find was the control unit situated on the left hand side of the passenger footwell - HAs two plugs with millions of wires at the bottom.

I just want to check the plugs where it goes in and out of the gearbox control unit to the ECU - to ensure the plugs connect well and perhaps clean the contact - as a quick resort.

ANyone else had this issue and manage to resolve it ? Or is there another point inbetween I am missing ?

I may be wrong, but this occurrence only started since the turbo replacement?

I seem to think this is more air flow and coolant temperatures related. I would check out the air intake sensor in the air cleaner box first.

I would then check the transmission oil cooler, intercooler and radiator for cleanliness and leaks. This symptom is indicative of a leaking intercooler pipe or cracked intercooler. Maybe just maybe they did not tighten a clamp on the boosts side of the turbo.

Lastly check all vacuum pipes on the turbo.
