Re: Wegtrek teen steil duin - geen momentum
I had a similar situation this weekend.

Par a little bit of momentum. the auto box was great, before the engine lost too many refs it would drop a gear weather it was in trip-tronic or not. i didn't make it up the sand, but got further than a jeep rubicon and a 3.3 Nissan.

What I did find was how happily the engine revved at 5000rpm going up the sand. What I did not enjoy was my TC screaming at me 75% up and I could see the engine temp picking up.

Tried it in 4H 4HLc and 4LLc. Fynny enough 4HLc got me half way up switched to 4LLc and it got me up another 50% or so. Then she just bogged down in the sand.

What can one do to stop that TC from overheating so quickly....

I can't find any way to disable the TC but maybe an option is to pull the electrical plug on the abs module in the engine bay, disabling the traction control completely but still giving brakes.

Hi Marius, the worst of it all is, I only ever have problems with the TC in sand, NOWHERE else has it ever given me any problems. And in some instances it helped in sand when it got down far enough to get grip on whatever was below it.

I would love to just have a switch that kills it and then switches it back on again.

if you have a dedicated fuse to the traction control you can just pull the fuse or probably have a switch installed that can cut the power at the press of a button.

NB : Make sure your warranty is up first as you might get into trouble with the dealer.

I have never been in sand but almost everywhere people recommend turning the TC off on sand as you need to keep the momentum going.

Do a search on this forum.
I came across the post a few months ago.
You pull a connection under the car on the sensor cable to one of the rear wheels.
If I remember correctly it disables the ABS and thus nullifies the TC.

I found the post on the 4x4community as well but felt that the plug in the engine or the fuse will be easier to access.

PLEASE:
How does one post a pic. I was involved in a little competition a few years ago with a gent in a 4x4(top of the range - best in the world - always goes right) bakkie and had NO problem storming a dune (up and over), while he battled to get half-way up. I have the pics to tell the story!
